Easter Sunday

Happy Easter to All!  We wish you all a very joyful and peaceful Easter.

Alleluia. Christ is risen.

God of glory,
by the raising of your Son
you have broken the chains of death and hell:
fill your Church with faith and hope;
for a new day has dawned
and the way to life stands open
in our Saviour Jesus Christ.   Amen.

Lord of all life and power,
who through the mighty resurrection of your Son
overcame the old order of sin and death
to make all things new in him:
grant that we, being dead to sin
and alive to you in Jesus Christ,
may reign with him in glory;
to whom with you and the Holy Spirit
be praise and honour, glory and might,
now and in all eternity.
Lord of all life and power,
who through the mighty resurrection of your Son
overcame the old order of sin and death
to make all things new in him:
grant that we, being dead to sin
and alive to you in Jesus Christ,
may reign with him in glory;
to whom with you and the Holy Spirit
be praise and honour, glory and might,
now and in all eternity.  Amen.

Easter Day –
Thanks for Rev Derek Akker for the following

 In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This Cornerstone, this solid Ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My Comforter, my All in All

It’s empty,
What has happened?
The women find the tomb empty.

Our streets are empty,
We saw the shelves in shops empty.
No one visits.
We feel empty.

It’s not how it should be.
It’s unprecedented,
Everything is being turned upside down.
What will fill this emptiness?

It’s empty,
What has happened?
The women find the tomb empty.

But this is a different emptiness.
It will be filled, it has to be filled.
It cannot be left empty
The emptiness will be filled with light
The emptiness filled with joy.
Filled with hope
Filled with song
Filled with love                     Great is the mystery of faith.

Thine be the glory, risen, conqu’ring Son:
endless is the vict’ry thou o’er death hast won;
angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away,
kept the folded grave-clothes where thy body lay.
            [Refrain]:
Thine be the glory, risen, conqu’ring Son;
endless is the vict’ry thou o’er death hast won.

Lo! Jesus meets us, risen from the tomb;
lovingly he greets us, scatters fear and gloom;
let the church with gladness, hymns of triumph sing,
for her Lord now liveth, death hath lost its sting. [Refrain]

No more we doubt thee, glorious Prince of life;
life is naught without thee: aid us in our strife;
make us more than conqu’rors, thro’ thy deathless love:
bring us safe thro’ Jordan to thy home above. [Refrain]

Shout it from the roof top Christ is risen, he is risen.

The Easter promise
As we come in thought this Easter morning to the empty grave, we see no longer that Precious Body cruelly pierced by our sins but the Angels gloriously pronouncing Christ’s victory over sin and death.  In our spiritual pilgrimage to the cross this year, we have followed our Lord in thought, word, music, through His betrayal, denial and abandonment, conscious that we too are guilty of such indifference.  But as we now, in spirit, share Your Body and Blood this Easter day, lift our hearts to Your Heavenly throne, refresh our souls and bodies for whatever is before us, to witness to Your victory, and inspire us to long for Your Son’s return in glory, to this world still powerfully in the grip of an invisible devilish enemy.  Surely I come quickly, come Lord Jesus. (Rev: 22.20)

The risen Christ came and stood among his disciples and said,
‘Peace be with you.’
Then were they glad when they saw the Lord. Alleluia.

Hymn: Jesus Christ is risen today – NEH 110 & Thine be the Glory – NEH 120

The God of peace,
who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus,
that great shepherd of the sheep,
through the blood of the eternal covenant,
make you perfect in every good work to do his will,
working in you that which is well-pleasing in his sight;
and the blessing of God almighty,
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
be among you and remain with you always.
Amen.
