Advent reflection day 5

Psalm 27.1,4,17

Refrain: The Lord is my light and my salvation

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom then shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom then shall I be afraid?
One thing have I asked of the Lord and that alone I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
Wait for the Lord; be strong and he shall comfort your heart; wait patiently for the Lord.

If the events of this year have taught us is that we are not immune from the trouble of the world. The Psalms often deal with the real and harsh realities of life. In those dark moments the Psalmist calls us to see the light of the Lord. Not easy but worth holding on to.

God, our light and our salvation,
illuminate our lives,
that we may see your goodness in the land of the living,
and, looking on your beauty,
may be changed into the likeness of Jesus Christ our Lord.

May God the Son, who comes to us as redeemer and judge,
reveal to you the path from darkness to light.
