Advent reflection day 12
Opening Prayer
Lord of light and the darkness,
May your Spirit guide our preparations for Christmas.
Help us to seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day.
In our anxiety may we look forward to your coming among us and be blessed by the joy of your presence.
When we feel as if we are walking in darkness may we see your light as we say,
“Come, Lord Jesus!” Amen.
Psalm 80. 3,4,18,19
Refrain: Turn us again, O God; show the light of your countenance, and we shall be saved.
Stir up your mighty strength and come to our salvation.
Turn us again, O God; show the light of your countenance, and we shall be saved.
Let your hand be upon the man at your right hand, the son of man you made so strong for yourself.
And so will we not go back from you; give us life, and we shall call upon your name.
In these words, there is the encouragement to cry out with all our heart, for that security that God will not forsake us.
Faithful shepherd of your people,
as we look for the light of your countenance,
restore in us the image of your glory
and graft us into the risen life of your Son,
Jesus Christ our Lord.

May God the Son, coming among us in power,
reveal in our midst the promise of his glory.
