Advent reflection day 15

Opening Prayer

Lord of light and the darkness,
May your Spirit guide our preparations for Christmas.
Help us to seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day.
In our anxiety may we look forward to your coming among us and be blessed by the joy of your presence.
When we feel as if we are walking in darkness may we see your light as we say,
“Come, Lord Jesus!” Amen.

Psalm 34

Refrain: O taste and see that the Lord is gracious.
I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall ever be in my mouth.
My soul shall glory in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad.
This poor soul cried, and the Lord heard me and saved me from all my troubles.

By seeking the face of God, the ‘poor soul’ is lifted beyond his troubles into a place of security, protected by the angel of God’s presence. (Angela Tilby)

Send your holy angels
to watch over us, O God,
that on our lips will be found your truth
and in our hearts your love;
so we may ever taste your goodness
in the land of the living;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

God will speak peace to his people, to those who turn to him in their hearts.
