Advent reflection day 18

Opening Prayer

Lord of light and the darkness,
May your Spirit guide our preparations for Christmas.
Help us to seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day.
In our anxiety may we look forward to your coming among us and be blessed by the joy of your presence.
When we feel as if we are walking in darkness may we see your light as we say,
“Come, Lord Jesus!” Amen.

Words from Psalm 72

Refrain: The Lord is king; let the earth rejoice.

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who alone does wonderful things.
And blessed be his glorious name for ever. May all the earth be filled with his glory.
Amen. Amen.

We once again have verses from Psalm 72 set for today. The closing words are of blessing, how easy it is in the midst of life to forget to give that and remember the blessings of life.

Lord may your kingdom come and may the reign of our Lord Jesus Christ bring the goodness and an abundance of peace that we long for.
In everything may we look for your will to be done.
Blessed be the Lord who alone does wonderful things.
Blessed be his glorious name for ever. Amen
(John Eaton adapted)

May God the Son, who comes to us as redeemer and judge,
reveal to you the path from darkness to light.
