Aberconwy Abbey Reflection

As you approach Conwy you see the castle built by Edward 1 in the 13th century. The castle dominates your view. Signs of the Abbey and monastery predate the work of the masons on the castle. A group of monks from the monastery at Strata Florida established a Cistercian community firstly, at Rhedynog Felen near Caernarfon in 1186. Life had been austere, and they made their second move to Aberconwy in 1190.
